ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan field hockey team announced Thursday (June 15) its schedule for the 2023 season -- the 51st year in the history of the program -- with a challenging 16-game regular-season slate. In addition to its eight regular-season home contests, the Wolverines will host the 2023 Big Ten Tournament from Nov. 2-5 at Phyllis Ocker Field. U-M is the defending Big Ten Tournament champion.

Michigan will face seven teams coming off an NCAA Tournament bid a year ago, including all four 2022 Final Four teams in NCAA champion North Carolina, Maryland, Northwestern and Penn State. U-M again will open the season against UNC, which has claimed four of the last five NCAA titles, and Wake Forest at the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge (Aug. 25-27) in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Wolverines also will host four Big Ten Conference matches at Ocker Field, welcoming Iowa (Sept. 22), Maryland (Oct. 13), Penn State (Oct. 15) and in-state rival Michigan State (Oct. 27) for Senior Day. U-M also will host non-conference opponents UC Davis (Sept. 1), Old Dominion (Sept. 3), Davidson (Sept. 8) and Saint Joseph's (Sept. 10). Admission at Ocker Field is free for all regular-season home games.

Michigan, the defending conference champion, will host the 2023 Big Ten Tournament, Nov. 2-5, at Ocker Field for the fourth time in program history and first time since 2014. The first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be held on campus sites Nov. 10-12, while the semifinals and championship game are slated for Nov. 17-19 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

Big Ten Tournament ticket information will be announced at a later date. Subscribe to Michigan Insider and add Field Hockey as a sport interest to receive schedule updates, game promotions, news, and more right to your inbox.
